Smoked

this image is unedited with the exception of cropping out some of the excess black. It is a photo of a light painted skull, a boar's skull. The bright redish spot over the eye is a bullet hole. It is about 100 years old and came into my care when a museum was downsizing. I really like it a lot. It was a pretty angry feeling thing when it first arrived but seems to have mellowed. It was lit with three light sources. There was a larger LED inside the mouth that had a chartreuse filter on it. There was a smaller LED that was telescopic that was inside the skull's brain case. I wanted it to have a very ghostly feel... like smoke was coming from the far side and was illuminating the far edge of the skull in blur. I like how it came together. The shutter was open about 30 seconds for this shot. My husband, Sean helped with the lighting throughout this entire shoot.
